THE PLACEMENT SCHEME

FIGURES’ UPWARD TENDENCY THE DIVISION'S AIMS ; The Labour Department i.Employ- ; meat Promotion Division) advised . mat the number' of placements under i me acove scheme continues to show a j small, though satisfactory, upward tendency, me figures lor the past ! week being (i permanent and 3 tem- ; porary. Tnis makes the total number of placements to date, 23 permanent, ana 30 temporary. The Division desires to point out that every man who is out of a job, whether on the unemployed register or not, should make a point of calling in to the bureau in Trafalgar street, in order that an interview with the Placement Officer, Mr T. W. Guy, may put them in line for a job when the opportunity occurs. The aim of the Division is to get as many men placed in permanent posi- J tions as possible, and for that pur- 1 pose it is desirable to have all the ! | available men registered. In addi- i lion to this, it is further requested! that the men who are still unplaced should make a point of calling in to the Bureau on every possible occasion; in fact it is not possible to call too often. An appeal is also made to the employers who take on a man under this scheme, to make contact with the Division whenever they are satisfied, in order that that man’s name may be removed from the “live” register.' By co-operation between the employers, the employees and the Department, i great things may be done in order to assist the man who is genuinely up j against it, and thus improve his out- j look on life, and the Dominion’s position generally.
