THE 40-HOUR WEEK • WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL, (Bv Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 19th June. At a special meeting of the City Council to-day, it was decided, after a two-hour discussion, not to make application to the Court for exemption from the provisions of the Factories Act regarding the introduction of the 40-hour week. Figures placed before the Council indicated that the additional cost for the remaining seven months of the year would be approximately £47,000.
