WOMEN’S CRICKET
RESULTS OF LOCAL GAMES The results of Saturday’s matches in the Women’s Cricket Association were as follows : Nelson 48, defeated Trathen’s 15 and 4°. McKay’s 71, defeated Te Kowhai 14 and 23. At the end of the third round championship points are: McKay’s 38, Nelson 36, Trathen’s 30, Te Kowhai 0. Te Kowhai put up a good performance in getting -McKay's strong side out for 71. M. Patterson (four for 36) and N. Ford (three for 25) both bowled very well. P. Bensemanu was top score for McKay’s with 16. Bowling for McKay’s J. Williams again howled consistently. G. Martin and P. Bensemanu also ably assisted to get Te Kowhai out for small totals. The Nelson-Trathen’s match was also a low scoring game. D. Johnson (Trallicn’s) put up one of the best individual efforts of the season. Her figures read S wickets for 15 runs off 10 overs. Davies (Nelson) with 17' was the only player to reach double figures. D. McGnj'th (Nelson) took four very fine catches and these played no small part in her team’s success.
The improved length and direction of the howlers hacked up by better placing of the field has been mainly responsible for low scores in the third round. Best performances were:
