OFFERS TO MINERS
INDEPENDENT DISTRICT INCREASES (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 17th December. Colliery owners are meeting representatives of the Mine Workers’ Federation this afternoon with regard to miners’ wages demands, and it is understood that in, reply to the claim for a national flat rate advance of 2s a shift a series of independent district offers of in-; creases of varying amounts will be made. The Executive Committee of the Federation has been called for to-night to hear the report of its representatives attending the joint meeting. The delegate conference of the Federation will meet to-morrow to be informed of .the result of the negotiations and make a decision.
