Auty, who. made a useful stand in the first innings, stepped out to Gallichan and was stumped without scoring. A Robinson had a short and vigorous innings, during which he made 23, including four boundaries, but Gallichan templed him and Norris the wicketkeeper claimed another victim. Neal, who had played a steady innings for 93, brought it to a close when Murchison accepted a catch, and Goodwin .succumbed to the same player. O'Sullivan forced the pace for u while, bjit Gallichan shattered his wickets and the innings closed shortly after noon with Murchison taking K Robinson’s wicket for a total of 94. Murchison and McVicnr opened Manawatu’s second innings, the runs coming freely, both batsmen being very confident. Just before luncheon the partnership was broken McVicar losing his wicket 10 Goodwin with the total at 47. At the adjournment Manawatu had lost one for 51. The resumption was delayed till 2.30 o’clock. Murchison and Cutler carried the score to 74. when Cutler was given out leg- before to K. Robinson.
