After eight years’ work. Mr* Anderson M. Baten, of Texas, U.S.A., has completed his Shakespeare Encyclopaedia. There are 1500 pages, 1,500,000 words, and 100,000 separate articles. Every word Shakespeare ever used—lre employed 15,000 to Milton’s 8000 and the New Testament’s 5642—is quoted with act, scene, and line references. Shakespeare was obviously a- man of peace. The word “love” appears 2559 times in his works, “hate” only 228 times.
