MELBOUNE, 16th February. Tragedy marked the opening of the duck shooting season in Victoria- One. Ilian was drowned and two men wounded. Jack White was drowned in a lagoon near Wangaratta. He shot a duck then rode bareback on a. horse into tile lagoon.' When the horse started to swim White jumped off after the duck and became entangled in weeds. Ronald Ward, who was seriously wounded, was in the line of fire of his companions and received pellets in the head, arms and chest. Vincent Girino, shooting ducks from a boat at Green .Lake, was shot in the back and neck. Later a. larmer of Green Lake who reported tho occurrence to the police was arrested and charged with maliciously wounding, Girino.
