Memorable Historic Occasion WARM WELCOME MARKED BY GREAT SINCERITY .Brilliant Civic Reception at Church Hill UNBOUNDED ENTHUSIASM AS CHILDREN MEET THE PRINCE Nelson gave a warm and brilliant welcome to His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester when he arrived in the City on Saturday aftemocn. The heat of the bright sunshine was tempered by a light breeze from the sea, which set the flags and bunting fluttering. As warm as the sunshine was the loyal affection in the hearts of the thousands who had assembled in Trafalgar street to take part in the reception and cheer the Royal visitor as he made his way to the attractively decorated platform on the first landing of the Steps. The second part of the 'welcome took place in the beautiful setting of- the Botanical Reserve where unbounded enthusiasm was displayed in what was regarded as one of the finest children’s receptions so far on the Royal tour.
