NEW AGREEMENT
OPINION IN FREE STATE GROWING DISSATISFACTION A BAD BARGAIN (United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, sth January. “The Times” Dublin correspondent says that the first feeling of relief at the news of the Anglo-Irish agreement has been succeeded by some dissatisfaction. It was at first assumed that the agreement involved the removal of the duties, which would be of real value, genuinely relieving the Free State s farmers and a blessing to consumers. However, the opinion is growing that the Free State made a bad bargain, receiving little or nothing for a substantial concession to Britain. britain’sTpleasure MR J. H. THOMAS’S STATEMENT LONDON, sth January. “Obviously I am pleased with the new Anglo-Irish agreement,” said the R.t. Hon. J. H. Thomas to the “Daily Mail.” He added: “I want to see the Free State playing its part as a member of the British Commonwealth.” He refused to prophesy regarding the settlement of tlie Anglo-Irish political dispute.
