“GLORY BUT LITTLE CASH”
FOR THOSE WHO BLAZE AIR TRAILS KINGSFORD SMITH IN AMERICA (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LOS ANGELES,. 12th November. “There may he glory, hut there is little cash for aviation feats,” Sir Charles Kingsford Smith sadly observed on Monday as lie set about to sell the Lady Southern Cross in order to balance bis accounts. “We chaps who blaze ail* trails have little to show for our deeds when it comes right down to if. 11l fate has marked us for its own.” Previously he had hoped to complete circling the globe. “1 hope I can.'gpt ,30,000 dollars for the Lady Southern Cross,” added Sir Charles. “She is worth all that and more, and 1 will need that much; to repay my sponsors . and reimburse myself, as well as buy a passage home. But to-morrow is another day, and I am not down-hearted.” LOS ANGELES, 12th November. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith flew to Oakland to act as honorary marshal in the Armistice Day parade and visit his brother. He afterwards returned to Los Angeles. Hejamipiuiced that he expected to fly to New Y'ork some*time this week.
