MEAT RESTRICTIONS
SITUATION CLARIFIED A USTRALTA’S ALTERNATIVE PLAN - (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) CANBERRA, 13tli November. The Prime Minister, the Hon. J. A. Lyons, clarified the meat restrictions situation to-day. He said the British Government had suggested that the Commonwealth Government should arrange for tlie cessation of killing cattle for export for two months and thus enable tlie British Government to deal with the meat situation in the United Kingdom. The Commonwealth Government, however, was unable to concur owing to the likelihood of causing unemployment. Alternatively it had proposed suspension of the export of frozen beef and veal for two months, as this would not be accompanied by any cessation in killing, and would not constitute restriction. Mr Lyons added that a final statement would be. issued after the" pending meeting of tlie Meat Advisory Committee.
