MOTUEKA CRICKET GROUND
(To the Editor) ~ Sil ;-r i Tl1 ? re y, ision of tile question for (lie Motueka Borough Council to take over, on behalf of the residents, the ground owned by th e .Motueka. Cricket tluo, ■anid utilise same as a public reserve, will I am sure meet with a fourvt- n l a .l on ty of public approval. His Worship moved, and the Council by majority approved of the suggestion, but they must bear in mind that they represent a borough where the majority ruling is not always final, if bv any chance there should happen to be an objector. This transaction, before finalising, . should be advertised freely. Neighbouring councils may wish to assort their authority, or tilery may be an individual somewhere between Auckland and the Bluff who may personally gain by tile ground remaining as a hurdle too stiff for the club to negotiate. Jf the occasion arose, no doubt a commission would bo set up; then the Council’s ruling would be a second consideration. I am merely making a statement, as I would not like to see tlie councillors involved in any intricate matter. In the House of Representatives on all questions, the majority rules, that is filial. In Motueka we are not so fortunate Commissions, in some instances, are necessary to deal with majority ruling. Councillors should tread warily.—l am, etc., M.M. Motueka, 13th November.
