DISPUTE WITH WATERSIDERS
GO-SLOW POLICY ALLEGED (By Telegraph—Press Association) NAPIER. 27th MarchAllegations that Napier watersiders are adopting a go-slow policy as a means of showing their disapproval of the attitude taken by shipowners and employers in regard to their demands for increased rates of pay, were made yesterday by various representatives pf the shipping companies at Napier. During the past few warking days it has been noticed that a go-slow policy is in evidence, and it is stated that three lighter loads were lost during today in the course of loading the Rangitaiic. The excuse offered by the watersiders to-day was that the sea, was too rough for the lighters to go out to the vessel in the roadstead. “That was not the case at all,” said a shipping representative. ‘Overseas vessels have been worked in worse weather conditions than prevailed today.”
