MEETING OF N.Z. COUNCIL SALT WATER DIPLOMA OPPOSED [By Telegraph—Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. At a meeting of the New Zealand Life Saving Society council, the secretary of the Auckland head centre notified tiiat owing- to Jack of delegates it had been impossible to hold the proposed life saving conference. A suggestion was made that the conference be held at Wellington. .The central executive in London notified that it was proposed to make provision for a salt water diploma to be available to those whose inability to float precluded them from taking the award in fresh water. It was decided to oppose the proposal. It was notified that a, representative of the centra] executive would visit New Zealand next swimming season.
