In the House of Commons, replying to Mr Harcourt Johnston’s request for a statement regarding New Zealand’s offer of a free tariff for British goods in return for the free unlimited entry of New Zealand products into Britain. Mr Thomas, Dominions Secretary, said that no such offer had been made. Mr Johnston was probably referring to recent correspondence on the question of dairy produce. Mr Percy Harris: “Is the Government prepared to srive a free market if an offer is made!” i ■#! Mr Thomas: “You can understand what my answer is when you read it.”
