LONDON TRAFFIC
AUTOMATIC CONTROL (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 3rd April. What is probably the most elaborate example of automatic traffic control in the world was inaugurated at Trafalgar Square, London. Traffic control by light signals is rapidly extending in London, where every week about 12 new systems are installed, but owing to the large number of streets converging on Trafalgar Square, and the fact _ that it is traversed by about 6000 vehicles daily, the new system is the most ambitious yet undertaken. A unique feature of the new system is that the traffic actually controls itself according to its need by means of detectors laid in the roadway.
The system will replace 16 point dui police.
