STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
' GOLFER AND CADDIE KILLED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right) (Received 31st March, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, 30th March. A retired business man named Kelly, aged 70 years, was playing golf at Maidenhead with a fifteen-year-old caddy, a widow’s only son. They were approaching the 17th green when a sudden brief thunderstorm broke out. Both hurriedly sheltered under Kelly’s umbrella and both were killed instantly by lightning. Their badly burned and mutilated bodies were found near the 'green with the clothing ripped to shreds. Kelly’s beard was singed off. Another player who was partnering Kelly was struck by the same lightning but ’ managed to stagger to the clubhouse. He was dazed and burned on the arms and legs, but his injuries are not critical.
