..Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe and Lt. Ellworthy, A.D.C., returned to Wellington last - evening. Yesterday afternoon His Excellency paid an informal visit to the Kirkpatrick Masonic Institute. The funeral of. the late Mr F. R. Creasy this morning was largely attended by the business portion of the community, with whom the deceased had been associated for some years when manager of the Union Bank of Australia. A number of other citizens, including representative fruitgrowers, also paid their last tribute of respect. The pallbears were: Dr. S. A. Gibbs, Messrs H. It. Duncan, F. G. Gibbs, J. H. Baxter (manager of the Union Bank of Australia), A. L. T. Jones and Frank Hamilton. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. J. G. S. Bartlett. Rear-Admiral Blake left for Picton shortly after 10 o’clock this morning, where he will rejoin, his ship. Yesterday the Rear-Admiral visited the Girls’ College and gave a short address to the scholars. The death of Mr John Robinson Mullan, clerk of the Buffer County Council, occurred at Westport last week. He was a native of Westport, 49 years of age, and was the last of -the Mullan family of three sons and one daughter, the mother, who is still alive, seeing all of her family predecease her. The late Mr Mullan was educated in the local school and at Nelson College. He joined the railway service, taking up the civil engineering branch, but in 190/ joined the county staff, under his father, the late Mr R. F. Mullan, then county clerk. On the retirement of bis parent two years later, the deceased stepped into the position and showed a special aptitude for the office, giving the Council valuable service. Taking a keen interest in sports, lie was instrumental in having the Municipal Baths established at Westport, and took a prominent part in the activities of Westport Swimming Club. He wa§ secretary of the Westport Club for 20 years.
