MYSTERY AIRMAN

DROPS ANTI-FASCIST LEAFLETS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) ROME, 3rd October. An audacious mystery airman flew over the city and dropped several thousands of anti-fascist leaflets on the thinnest paper. Some were addressed to the King and others to Mussolini, reminding them that it was the eighth year since the murder of Matteotti, and reviling the Italians for enduring the yoke of Fascism, and exhorting them to follow the example of Spain. COUNTER DEMONSTRATION (Received sth October, 1.20 p.m.) ROME, 4th October. With characteristic promptitude 25,000 Fascists demonstrated in the Piazza Collona at midnight as a counter to the leaflets dropped from the aeroplane. The Federal Secretary at Romo accompanied by the entire directorate of the capital, addressed the crowd which cried with one voice: “Down with the anti-Fascists ! Long live the King, the Ducc and Fascism.”
