Ammon Ra will be the last gelding to win the classic Derby, owing to a- now rule which debars unsexed horses from competing. Amnion Ra’s winnings are in the vicinity of £20,000. He is described here as a brilliant horse. McCarten, rider of Autopay in the Epsom, said: “I was instructed to go out and break up the field. Autopay was flat out for five furlongs, when I gave him a hit of a breather. Ho stuck particularly well when Ticino came at him. I was well pleased with the way Autopay hung on.” Pike, the rider of Pentheus, said: “My mount was simply not good enough.” Glide's effort iri the Spring Stakes won him a host of admirers for the Metropolitan, for which he has displaced Veilmond. Chide has returned to his best New Zealand form, and 110 stuck to Phar Lap like a champion. Concentrate raced without dash.

The New Zealander Love Song changed hands prior to the Epsom, his new owner being Mr J. O’Brien, who bought him subject to the unusual stipulation that if he ran into a place the sale would become void. Jefferd leaves for New Zealand as soon as Cypress is fit to travel. Ammon Ra has gone to Melbourne in readiness for bis Guineas engagement at the Caulfield Carnival which is opening on Saturday. COMMENT ON PRINCIPAL EVENTS AMMON RA AND AUTOPAY (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received sth October, 9.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The weather this morning was brilliantly fine for ihe second day of the Randwick Meeting. The forecast is for cloudy weather with occasional showers. The “Herald” says: “Not since the well-remembered meeting at which the late Mr G. Stead’s horses won eight races at Randwick, have New Zealand stud masters had such a day of triumph as on Saturday, when the principal events were won by horses of their bleeding. Ammon Ra settled any doubts that may have existed about his quality by his brilliant victory in the Derby. His manner of winning left no question concerning the three-year-old champion of the season. Taking complete control half a mile from home be won in the most decisive style. It was not generally expected that the first prize in the Epsom would go to the Dominion, hut Autopay rose to the occasion. More than once in the straight he was tackled by Ticino, hut each time lie responded with rare determination. Neither of the first two would have appreciated any longer distance, as both were all out at the finish. No excuse could he found for the defeat of Pentheus.” ACCEPTORS FOR SHORTS HANDICAP SYDNEY, 4th October.
