United Service.:. -■;.,■■_ - -' ■ (Received 13th August, 12.15 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, 12th August,;'',::: The Olympiad closed with spirited 'horse-jumping in the Stadium, .after , : which twelve victors, of 'equestrian '*' events, .chiefly officers, in various uni:";! forms cantered round the track amid the demonstration of 40,000 spectators. .Other prize winners paraded before the Royal box, hut the spectacle suffered from the absence of many who •"■■ are already on their way home. •■■•.-' The Que'en presented the first prizes; "N and the Prince Consort, descending to the track, the. second; and Comte Latour, president of the Olympic Executive, the third. A fanfare of trumpets announced the closing of the Qlympia and the Olympic ,;„ flag was slowly hauled down, while A'** guns saluted and-a band played-it farjf if % well hymn. ' \ •> ■'• ' Finally the silk flag which Belgium gave in 1920, and which has been-re* -*- tained in Paris since 1924, was,handed, over to the Mayor of Amsterdam, where it remains until the Los Angeles Olympiad.
