Essex, first innings 208 (Russell 60, Franklin 54), Freeman taking eight for 94, and in the second 218 (Russell 56), Freeman taking six for 87 and Marriott four for 54. Kent won by 146 runs. Surrey, first innings 239 (Shepherd 60), Mayer taking eight for 62. Surrey declared their second innings with six wickets down for 393 (Hobbs not out 200, Ducat 71). Warwickshire, first innings 351 (Bates 73, Wyatt 74, Groom not out 60), and in the second innings lost one wicket for 75. Warwickshire won on the first innings. Somerset, first innings, 258 (Hunt 101), Mercer taking six for 75, - and in the second 192 (Longrigg not out 55). Glamorgan, first innings 213 (Bell 88). Somerset won on the first innings. Gloucestershire, first innings 319, (Seabrook 76, Neale not out 66), Constantine taking four for 66 and Scott four for 61, and in the second,, lost three wickets for 129 (Dipper not out 62): West Indies, first innings 299* (Roach 71, Nunes 71, Martin 53, Scott 66). The match was drawn.

Hampshire, first innings 395 (Mead 76, Kennedy 87, Brown 51), Jupp taking five for 144. Hampshire won on the first innings. For Worcestershire against Derbyshire, Higgins scored 50 and Root took six for 107 and five for 61. For Derbyshire Storer made 76, Lee took five for 99, and Townsend six for 84, and four for 45.
