NEW DUTIES EXCEED EXPECTATIONS

LONDON, 2nd Jan. The "Observers" political correspondent says that Mr Churchill is determined not to increase the income tax. The new silk-'duties and the betting tax have exceeded expectations and it would not be surprising if. further exploitation of national luxuries were made by the Customs' authorities.
