• CHRISTCHURCH.This Day. A young mountaineer, Roger Chester of Matson's Road, Papanui met with-an accident on Thursday, which though not serious meant a very trying experience. He with a companion Ivan Tucker joined a party that had set out to climb Mount Rolleston,. but the tc»> being hidden with mist it was decided to make towards Harman Pass At a height of 3.000 ft Chester while traversing a shingle face started to'slide and was crushed between two large stones a piece of the'flesh of the calf of one leg being torn away. First aid was rendered by one of the party and then the slow journey back started. A'rivethad to be. crossed five times in the. twenty mile return to the old West Coast road. There they fortunately met a motorist who conveyed them to Art bur's Pass where the wound was treated by a medical man. Chester is making good progress. •
