WAIMEA ROADS POLICY

Sir, —Some misunderstanding having been caused through the fact- of my adding my signature to a petition asking the Waimea County Council to leave the main road policy as it is at. present, I shouid like to explain that my position is that I am absolutely against cutting out 25 miles main road from main roads. I am in favour of doing away with the whole main road policy of the Waimea County Council, and lastly, 1 would like, legal advice as to subsidy, in cutting the whole of the main roads out of the Wangapeka and Motupiko ridings. If the two ridings concerned would not be adversely affected regarding Government subsidy, or other complications, I should be quite in favour of revoking the main roads in these two ridings. Perhaps the legal, advice necessary 'on this important question will he obtained at next county meeting. It seems to' me to be the business-like way for a county to have riding accounts.
