STRUGGLE WITH BURGLAR
YOUTH PUTS UP FINE FIGHT (United Preßs Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. A fierce struggle between an eighteen year old youth and a burglar whom he encountered coming away from bis. parents’'residence in a lonely part oi Shirley, took place at midnight .on Saturday. The burglar eventually succeeded in making his escape, but not. before the kid had recovered from him bis mother’s purse and a sum of money, which hacl been stolen from the kitchen mantlepiece of the house. A bicycle, almost new, has since been discovered to have been stolen from someone else. Am electric torch and a bloodstained handkerchief are other souvenirs of the encounter, which are now in the hands of the police.
