BIRMINGHAM DISPUTE BISHOP AND HIS VICARS LONDON, .Inn. 12. The Bishop of Birmingham, Dr. E. W. Barnes, denies that he has any intention of taking legal action regarding the clergy in his diocese with whom lie has had a dispute as to ''reservation of the Sacrement." The Westminister Gazette asserts, however, that the Birmingham eonfliet is merely a preliminary skirmish, and that all the bishops, whether "High" or "low" church, are determined to hold up their authority. Tf the bishop is successful at Birmingham strong disciplinary measures will follow in nearly every diocese in England. "If reservation of the Sacrement is legalised it will split the Church of England.
