NELSON AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
GENERAL MEETING ' A general meeting of . ttys Nelson Automobile Association was held in the Institute last evening. Mr C. R. Pell presided, and there was a good attendance of members. Among the correspondence dealt with were the following letters:—From the Qtago Mp.tr or Club, forwarding report '.pi conference at Dunedin., wherb* at preliminary steps were taken to form a South' Island Union. Resolved, tha/L the letter he received. From th£ Town Clerk, Nelson, advising that the Council cannot jsee ||a way to remove the lamppost at the intersection of Hardy and Trafalgar streets. Resolved that a deputation wait .'bn thg Council on this matter. From the Waimea County Cfouhmj advising that the council had appointed additional rangers ■ and had given instructions to lay informations against drivers of horse vehicles and motors driven without lights Iti the hours when it is necessary for such lights to be carried. Frpm Upper ‘ Moutere.* Roa«J Board, acknowledging the request for the erection of.%signposts and advising that hoard will erect signs provided by the association at points specified- From the Mahana Fruitgrowers’ Association, forwarding plan of district with a request for signposts at points marked thereon ,i; Regarding the recent action of the police in stopping ists while travelling at sonable speeds for exceeding the, limits of the city by-laws, it was resolved, -after lengthy discussion, to request the council to extend the speed limits from 6 and 12 m.p.h, to 8 and 18 m.p.h.; also that, if any member is summoned for exceeding the present speed liin- f its, provided in the opinion of the committee be was travelling/ at a reasonable speed, the case be taken up by the association and fought as a test case. Regarding the be nine shortage, it was resolved to inquire of the New Zealand Automobile Union what action had been taken to remedy the present,,, and prevent a future shortage. * It wag resolved that the Waimea Comity Council be requested to convert the present footbridge over Beuke Greek, Rosedale-Ngatimoti road, into a motor bridge. Twelve new members were elected to the association, and after several minor * matters bad been dealt with the meek ing adjourned.
