PEOPLE’S PICTURES
“THE BEAUTIFUL MRS. REYNOLDS.”
The World feature, “The Beautiful Mrs Reynolds,” to be shown at the popular Theatre Royal to-night, tells a most romantic story of one of the bitterest feuds ever recorded! in America. The first part of the film shows the rrigin of the celebrated enmity between Major Burr and Captain Hamilton, while the second part tells of the amazing course of events which led to that tmm'iiiy blazing out in a most renowned scandal, followed by one nf the most remarkable confessions ever made by an erring man to the pubi c who had deemed him a model man, mot only hi his publ’c life but also in his private affairs. The oast is led by June Elvidge as Mrs Reynolds, the beautiful woman who wag band’ed about, sold first to her husband, and then, by him to » friend, and eventually finding love only where its call could lead to naught bat tragedy. Carlyle Blackwell plays Captain Hamilton, and Arthur Ashley ; s Major Butt, in addition, to which Evelyn Greedy has an important role.
HAYWARD'S PICTURES
“The HOUSE OF GLASS.”
The Select feature, “The House of Glass,” now being screened at Hayward’s. shows Clara Kimball Young in a highly dramatic character as an innocent young girl whom circumstantial evidence convicts of complicity in a jewel robbery. After sea-vug a term in prison, she is released on parole, but has to report herself once a week. In desperation she breaks her parole and disappears. Later, in the American West, she marries a prominent business man without revaling the story of her oast. Afte- a while his business brings him back to the town where she had been imorisoned, and there she lives in hourly dread of recognition by the police. * Thy eventually occurs, and she is compelled to make a full confession to her hitherto unsuspecting husband. The story is full of dramatic s-tuat o.is, and gives Clara Kimball Young every opportunity. LYRIC SKATING RINK. The usual large attendance was in evidence at the Lyre Rink last night. During the evening a few of the events for the coming carnival were rehearsed. A special evew*; for the evening -n the form of a potato race wry run off ano was won by P. Dodsworih, w.th H. Hawke second. The rink "’ill be open as usual to-day, and to inght the band win be im attendance.
