ORGANISING TEACHERS

f'.loitod' Press Association. } WEiHnGTOK v Aug. 18. A short while ago was annoiinced fhat regulations had been approved for appointment of organising teachers with a view to giving advice * to other teachers, particulai'ly in country districts' in preparing schemes of work and In method® of teaching and other matters affecting the efficiency ’of ifehools. Alluding to this question, the Hon. J. A. Hanan, Minister of Education, said it was pleasing to know that the various Education Boards had acted' promtly under the regulations in arranging for the appointment of from two to four organising teachers in each district. These teachers, will have supervision; over from eight f o fifteen small country schools at present staffed by sole teachers, many of whom are uncertificatH, and pomei of whom would benefit considerably by further training. It will be the’ duty of an organising teacher to visit each school for some time to assist its teacher in arranging programmes and methods of work and to give actual demonstrations in teaching nod organising small charge schools. Th e organising teacher is not intended' to be an Inspector, buit) a teacher. Inspectors- will visit' schools as before, but; with the assistance of organising teachers, there will be much wider opportunities of improving the standard of ..efficiency in the outlying schools of the Dominion. Befiweeii, twenty and twenty-five f >v.ganisiug teachers have beep, appointedi or are being selected.
