The Royal Horticultural Society has organised a campaign t 0 raise funds to assist in the restoration* of the orchards and -widens of out Allies, emphasising thajti our own orchards and gardens have been spared the awful devastation inflicted on friendly countries. _ Being affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society, the Nelson Horticmtwral Society has been appealed to, and the local society has decided to hold a day iu aid of the relief fund. For this purpose it is intended to continue Daffodil Day, which has been such a popular function during the past few Years The Plunket Society had intended holding a Daffodil Day but has now relinquished the idea, and has substituted other means of casing This leaves the way clear for the Korincultural Society, which will hold Daffodil Day in September, probably about Z 19tih. There will bo -the usual flower and plant stalls, and in various coutotrv districts are to be asked to have stalls for the sale of produce The object for which the appeal is being made is one tihat dmM havegeneral sympathy and practical and it is hoped that s effort wdl result in a subetbntial sum being raised.
