CITY WATER SUPPLY

RESULT OTANALYSIS,

The result of an analysis of a sample of water taken from the main in vVaimea street has been received by Mr H. ColtAan, Health Inspector afc Nelson. The sample was taken on the 12th inst. and was from the weir supply. The Dominion Analyst states that on standing the sample gave a fairly large deposit consisting of’ organic matter and siliceous particles. Several crustaceans and diatoms _ were present. The sample was higher in free and albuminoid nitrogen than water from the dam analysed in 1916, and is of fair quality for drinking purposes.
