I ACTION BY THE GOVERNMENT, WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of Mines stated to-day that it had been decided to open up a new mine at Nine Mile*about two miles from llunaiiga. The" site is Clown Land, part State coal reserve of 350 acres. It is estimated that it contains ' over 4.000,000 tons. He has requested the Minister of Public Works to have the survey made for a railway with the s utmost despatch. Two miles of line are required. fc It is estimated it will take two yesrs to develop the mine. The Minister is also making recom--1 mendations to the Cabinet respecting the purchase of a coalfield near Rnntly ■ After three years’ ho ring at Charming ’ Creek, near ‘Seddonville, it h- d t«n decided that the field cannot be developed.
