(To the Editor.)
Sir—lt was with much interest that i I yonr'recent leader regjrdxng electric energy possibilities It **s - interest you and many of your* «adeia to know that ch f la f ake W^. fc staying in the vicinity of Lake ito toroa I was much impressed with the - enormous, amcrrtat of ,pov*er th<at ■£. running to Waste down the Go;* an river and in view of coaT and labour shortage, I tookS mentioning" the matt r to the ■Minister of .Railways, suggesting the use it m*ght be put to in the: way of haulage land also to provide light for the whole district. £xe replied thanking me for the interest and suggestion, saying that;! •would hear further. A little later the Minister for Public "Worts wrote me saying that the Minister of Hallways had approached him on the suggestion contained in my letter and that hf. would have the possibilities investigated and that I would hear further in due course. I had no thought of Blenheim being interested at the time, »ut combined action will very materially help, and though I suggested one Jake and" they are interest d in the other I do. not see what it matters so ' lon o- as we get a reliable installation; I do not know Lake Rotoiti, it maybe the better, I hope it is. I know there is" abundance of power at Lake RotoroaT If all public bodies, etc., would exert their influence in the direction of som thing bein:g v done, the result would be of untold value to the district for all time.,' Nelson would get an absolutely first class scheme, -whereas it something is not done quicklv the temptation will h great to consider some trifline half-hearted scheme '. on the cheap, which would be more of a nuisance than a benefit, and if private enterprise is- allowed to under 1 - take tp° work- the res'ilt i<= a monapo'.y and dissatisfaction. It behoves everyone to do their utmost to further this- - combined proposal. The cost will be so small compared to the benefits. Thanking you for space, and hoping to hear that others are interested-. I am etc., ',■'': S. WTNX-
