PLUNKET SOCIETY.

! The first meeting of the new committee of the Plunket K'ociety was held on ■Monday afternoon. The chair was taken by Mi's Buchanan, and twenty members were present. The president spoke of 'Mrs C. Y. Fell's recent- loss, and of the patience and courage shown by her throughout. A l (.solution o; sympathy was passed, the members standing. Nurse Thompson's report was read. Visits had been paid to Wakefield and Richmond, but the wet weather had prevented her visit to Motaeka. For the ami' reason the number of visits to the rooms had been less than usual. 'Six hundred and' fifty-two cases have now been treated since the establishment of lie Nelson branch, and 132 are under treatment at the present time.

The monthly accounts (£l:6 5s 3d) 'were passed for payment. £5 8a 6di had been received by,. s the niirre in subscriptions, donations, and sale of books. '■Mrs Buchanan took the opportunity jf i,'..minding membcs that they should •U be in possession and.should study the books published by the society, so Ar.it they might be able to answer questions and correct any . mistatcment. They should study especially "1 lie Care ■ ;nd"'Feeding of Baby," "The Components of Various Milks/' "Natural Feeding," and "The Story of the Teeth." The secretary was authorised to order six dozen copies of the iascnamed publication. Resolutions of thanks were passed to Mr Young, M.P., for his visit to Nelson, md to Mr Duncan for hospitality given, and of acknowledgement to the Hon. Mr Russell for message of congratulation -ent through Mr Young. Tlie following members were appointed as executive committee :— j Tix officio, Mrs Buchanan (president), .Miss Ledger (secretary), 'Mrs Nulder (treasurer) ; elected, Mesdames Rogers, Graham, and Judson, Misses Bisley and HunterBrown.

Resolved: that an invitation be sent to Mrs Truby Kinrr to attend the meetings of 'the committee whenever convenient to her. ■ Mrs Buchanan reported that a detached room at Richmond, belonging to the cottage Dr Washbouvn had used as a consulting room, in a "central position had been - secured for the use of the '■" ranch; and at .Motueka a. room in the cottage' belonging, to the\ Red.
