MAITAI LANDS.
(To '.he Editor.)
Sir, —I would like to see the 16 acres and the bathing holes secured for the people, but my husband and I think it particularly necessary that the 16 acres should be got- for us. Wei and our children cannot use the bathing holes, but we have for a long time enjoyed spendour holidays on the 16 acres alongside the rover. There are cleared places for the children's games, and the -manuka tr&es furnish the shade required in the summer time. The City Councillors say the cost to the city will be only a trifle, as the Government and Mr Gawthron are paying practically the full amount. The rates are not likely to he raised, but Nelson will deserve to be ■wiped off the map of New Zealand if we decline this magnificent gift "which is now within our reach. I am, etc., NELSONIAN.
