REINFORCEMENT CAMPS

VISITED iBY MINISTERS.

1 (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Inspections of new camp sites were made vesterday by Ministers, i Messrs Massey and Rhodes going to those in the ; Manawatu district, and Mr Allen to Tauherenikau (Wai'rarapa). The Premier's party visited Waikanae arid Levin, where the Seventh Reinforceirents are now quartered in schools and other public buildings. The new camp site at Waikanae.is on drier ground.than that first chosen. It was inspected, and will probably be selected for the Seventh. The Trentham Regiment is now accommodated at the Palmerston racecourse and show ground buildings; but in a. few days will go to' Rangiotu, on the Foxton line, where the site is sandy and suitable. ' " The report as to the flooding of this site is incorrect. The phenomenal rainfall in the Manawatu district on Friday night and yesterday has so far prevented the men getting under canvas; but it is expected they will bo in camp during the week. There were several cases of measle6 and influenza at various places; but the patients are being well, cared for. The residents are most kind and hospitable at each place. Definite instructions were given that in all cases in which men are sent to hospital, the next of kin shall be immediately notified. Nothing definite is yet known regarding the nature of the sickness at Trentham; .but investigation is still proceeding. (United Pjiess Association.) LEVIN, This Day. On Saturday evening, at 5.30, 150 men arrived hero -from Trentham. They were quartered in the Drill Hall and Druids' Hall. Later another hundred arrived, and were quartered in> the public school buildings. The men's originaldestination was. Waikanae camp, but on arrival there it was found that Owng to the flood there was ho room, and they, were sent on here yesterday. All' the men were moved to the school buildings, which now contain 251 men, under Cap" tain Jolly. The Wei-aroa Hall was set aside as a hospital, and there are seven cases there.
