PERMANENT PICTURES
A large audience enjoyed the fine so- !■ lection of pictures screened at■ tlie Empire Theatre last . evening. 'To-night . there will again be a complete change of programme,.-headed by a Keystone star comedy featuring both Mabel Xorirande .and Ghas. Chaplin'. the latter ■pla.ving-two parts, that of waiter in a sixth-rate cabaret and-the Prime.-Minis-ter of Iceland. The-title is "Caught m a Cabaret." and as usual it is rough and tumble -helter-skelter, but the spirit of laughter is -behind it all. A most iuicrest---ing film is "Food for the Dogs of War." Tliis-shows the-work of preparation for battle, the loading of shells, testing of arms and ammunition, -etc. "Catherine. of Guisa"-is a. historical drama of the time' of Henry VIII. Several ' otherdramatic, comic, and scenic, films, and a Pat-lie Gazette' complete, the series. IMPERIAL, PICTURES. "THE TRAIL BREAKERS." The current programme at the Lyric Theatre last evening was successfully •screened, and the' various : items met •with a hearty reception. The new series to be shown this evening should make a. big hit, as the titles .indicate ' some extra sjieeial picture* from, the; most famous makers. The Bison-. Company is responsible for an exciting star drama, "The Trail Breakers," -with .the follow--ing players in the cast: Rex do Rqselli, William 'Clifford', Val Paul, "Sherman Bainbridge, and Miss M. Wakamp. The" War Special is by the Eclair Co., who also present an -interesting 'dram*., "A;Friend in Need'" ; v '"Moying_Day" is a brilliant comedy from the Nor disk C0.,-and is 1000 ft in length: "Zeppelirt'e Downfall'' is a topical -.-by the [p-.F'.B.Ar: Co.- Essanay is .worthily .represented ■by: a 1000 ft comedy, entitled, "Slippery Slim Gets Square'' : ' 'War's., Innocent '■■ Victim's" is. a ;wonderfully stagecl apili--1 tarv drama by Eclair.; and[the 'E..;andi wind .-up : the programme •'■with a screaming farce, . .entitled ''A Hair*. raising-Episode."
