THE RANGITIKEI ELECTION.
STATEMENT BY THE ACTING PREMIER. -,- "* Messrs Meldrum and Georgetti, two of the defeated Ministerial candidates at the Rangitike election last week,' were in' Wellington on Saturday ,and in the afternoon' had a private interview with the Hon. James Carroll" (Acting-Prime Minister), and three other members . of the Cabinet — the Hon. J. A. Millar, , Hon. R. M.'Kenzie, and the Hon. T. Mackenzie. In reply to a question by a representative of the "Dominion," on the subject of the interview, tho Acing-Prime Minister said that • on becoming •' aware that Messrs Meldrum and Georgetti were in town, he had interviewed them to receive the personal congratulations of him- - . self and his colleagues on the man- [ ner in which they had acquitted , themselves during tho campaign. Mr : Carroll added that the. whole conI duct of the election was very grati--1 fying.
