Definition of a hack. — Hack means a horse that has not at time of nomination won a race of a value oi 100 sovs., or of the collective value ui 250 sovs., ;iuce Ist August, 1599. 2. All protests must bc accompanied by a deposit of &2 (with the excoptioi of trots, when the depos-it must be £5). vhich shall be forfeited should tin Stewards consider the protest frivolous' ir vexatious. 3. All nominations close at the Sec I retary office, Kelson, on Friday, 12tb I March, at 9 p.m. 4. Nominations must be made in writing, addressed "Secretary Jockey Club, Nelson"; or, if sent by to!e graph mutt b; onfinued by lette: first mail afterwards, and to be accompanied by the necessary fees; also name, age, colour, sex, and pedigree of tho horse, aud colours to be worn by rider or driver. Any owner neglecfing to furnish this information a! time of nomination will bo fined £5. 5. The flat races will bo run under the rules of the New Zealand Rules o' Racing. The Trotting events will be under the Rules of the New Zealan. Trotting Association. 6. The winner of any race, after th declaration of weights, may bo re handicapped. 7. Rule 163, Rules of Trotting.— By (ho eufjy of, or endeavouring to enter a horse, every person having, or subsequently acquiring any interest in such horso. shall bc deemed to accept all the conditions and restrictions ini poßed or implied by these rules, and to be barred from questioning the action or conduct of the club or any other body holding a sports meeting, or if any official of the club or such other body in respect of sueh horse or any person connected therewith, otherwise than is- provided f.jr in Par' 8.
