A COMBINED PROTEST. [United Pbbss Association.] INVERCARGILL, Thursday. At tho meeting of the Town Council to-night the much-discussed question of the town valuations came up again, when a special committee reported on having examined tho Valuation Roll, and found anomalies therein relating to all parts of the town. They considered that the valuations as a whole were too high, and recommendsd that the Government be asked to allow the old valuations to remain in force for another 12 months ; that new valuations be made by a local valuer ; and that a deputation from the Council wait on the Premier and place the whole matter before him. The Council adopted the report. Working independently of the Town Council a number of representative citizens decided to-day to circulate for signature a patition asking the Minuter iu charge of the Valuation Department to ,ve the local valuation roll revised.
