SHOCKING TRAGEDY IN THE NATIONAL GALLERY.
MURDER AND SUICIDE. BY AN AMERICAN OF MEANS. [Peess Association. — Copsbiohi.] (Received Feb. 26, 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. Visitors to the National Gallery were startled by a well-dressed man suddenly shooting and killing his female companion and then committing suicide. The victims of the tragedy nave been identified as an American couple named Dawson, of independent means, residing at Brighton. Dawson left a letter stating that he was ths victim of blackmailers.
