The Supreme Court's action in- upholding the fine on the New York Central Railway for granting rebates to an oil refining company ha^ caused a serious reaction in American rails on Wall Street. The steel trade is demoralised owing to the Steel Trust reducing the price of steel shapes and plates by £<lols. a ton. and steel baivs 4do!s., followed by an announcement of an open market jji the rail industry.
