CHARGE AGAINST A MISSIONARY.
(Received 9.40 a.m.) THURSDAY ISLAND, Thursday. . Ad\ices from Darn, Papua, state that the Rev. Mr Baxter Riley, of the London Missionary Society, has been committed for trial on a charge of assaulting a coloured teacher working under iim. It is alleged that Mr Riley was challenged, and struck the teacher, hurting his neck. The teacher, who ..subsequently suffered from pneumonia, died three weeks after.
