COUNCIL.

WELLINGTON, Friday. In the Council, which met at 2.30, the Pure Food Bill was further considered in Committee. A new sub-clause was added to clause 26, making it an offence for a baker to take back bread from the purchaser after the latter had been in possession for one hour. The Bill was reported as amended. The Indictable Offences Summary Jurisdiction Bill was read a third time and passed. The Animal Protection Biill was read a second time, and referred to tho Statutes Revision Committee. The Marine Insurance Bill and the Methylated Spirits Bill were returned from the House and read a second time. The Council rose at 4.15.
