AMUSEMENTS.
BOYS' COLLEC K ENTERTAINMENT. There was a large attendance at the Theatre last, evening, when an entertainment was given hy pupils of the Boys' College, assisted by friends. A capita! programme was presented, and five ereat pleasure to the audience. Two dramatic scenes were given — from "King John" and from "The Rivals.' 1 In the former the part of Hubert was taken by R. Worley and that of Arthur by' P. Jory. ' The characters in "Tlie Rivals" were taken by K. Munro (Bob Acres); L. Hughes (Sir Lucius-O'Tiit-ger) ; C. Meuteath (Captain Absolute, alias "Beverley") ; A. McNab (Faulkland) ; and J. Bullard (David). The performers reflected credit on their coaches, Messrs Wills and HudHlestone. A squad of six boys— (Smith, Munro, Frazer, Deck, King and Menteath) — save an exhibition of club swinging; Smith, Beck, Munro, Menteath, Kih£, and McNab aigo gave a dumb-bell exhibition, and there w;as . a general gymnastic display by junior pupils. Instrumental and vocal con- • ''ions were made bythe following: — Miss Easton, piano solo; Mr Gilbert, piano solo; Miss Bamford, song, "The ' Violet Girl"; Misses Bamford, duet, , "The Happy Hunt»r" : Misses Kempthorne, Hanby, and Bamford, trio, "0 Skylark, "for Thy Wing" : Mr T. , Houlker, song, "Shepherd, See Thy Horse's Foaming Mane"; Mr E. Richards, song, "My Sweetheart When a , Boy." The aeompanimenfs were played by Miss Kempthorne. Selections were , played by the Citizens' Band from ] the balcony of the Theatre prior to , tho commencement of the entertainment.
