WELLINGTON, This Day.

The debate on the Referendum Bill occupied the whole of the sitting of the Legislative Council yesterday, and it was unfinished at tho adjournment. The forenoon sitting of tho House was occupied with replies to questions.- The two-sessions proposal for next year received a " knock out blow " at the hands of the Premier. The afternoon and evening sittings were devoted to local bills, none of which were of special interest to local readers.
