WELCOME AT RICHMOND.
The Stoke Rifle* held a very successful social and dance at the Octdfellow3' Hall, Richmond, last Friday evening. The Hall was appropriately decorated with flags, rifles, and bayonets, military and royal portraits, interspersed with greenery, the stage being fitted up as a draw-u)g-roora. After singing the Natioual Anthem, Capt, Harkness opened the proceedings by welcoming home i roopers Cieaswell, Bovey, and Coleman, who were now, or had been, members of the company. He also thanked the Committee, consisting of Sergte. May, Hornig, and Robbie, who had made all arrangements and decorated the room so tastefully, -ongs were contributed by Mia May Mrs talbot, Sergt. Allport, and Mr Papps. Corpl. Kotten, of the Wakatu Mounted Rifles, gave a recitation, these items being well received, and adding greatly to the enjoyment of the evening. Sergt. May acted as M.C., and dancing was kept up till the small hoars by the numerous guests.
