Of the West Coast dredging claims, the Greymouth correspondent of the " Otago Daily Times " writes on the 10th inst. — The Nelson Creek dredge went through 22ft of ti lings last week, and the return of 29ozs is therefore good, though very much below what was expected. If the present cut is continued up stream the returns will be smaller than estimated, but if (he old process of crossing the stream is continued the yield will increase, but no! po rapidly as would have been the case had tailings not been come across. It will be some time yet before the old Bendigo wash is got at. This week is estimated to give 40ozs. The Grey Consolidated machinery is running smoothly, and as the dredge is working on the bottom there may probably be a wash-up on Saturday. The machinery of the ahaura river dredge is working admirably. The dredge is expected to give a return at the end of the week. The Perry's Reward dredge should have a trial run this week. The Ruby Creek dredge should be working in about six weeks' time. The contractor for the erection of the machinery has been delayed by the non-arrival of the machinery. The local foundry have the contract for the supplying and the erection of the machinery for the Lake Ryan dredge. The North Beach dredge is well in hand and it is expected that the dredge will commence in two months. The erection of machinery on the Totara Flat dredge will be commenced shortly.
