ANDERSON'S RECORD.
Anderson is tho samo man who, soon after his transfer to tho Nolson gaol, assaulted Warder Molloy with a tin prison utensil, for which ho forfeited marks equivalent to two months remission of sentence. It was during tho hoaring of this charge that tho prisonor accusod tho warder of beating him with his baton until, in ordor to save himself, ho cried " Murder," and drew other prisoners' attention. Ho closely cross-examined all the witnesses against him, and stuck out that ho had beon too sevorely punished. His prison record shows him to bo a criminal of tho worst class. 110 is now sowing four years for stealing from a dwelling, and two months additional for attempting to escape from Lyttolton gaol. Ho has also served three years —undor the name of Arthur Floyd, for wounding unlawfully — tho last portion of this scntonco having boon served in Nelson. Indeed, siuco 1874 Anderson has been almost continually in gaol for burglary, larceny, illegally on promises, unlawfully wounding, keeping v houso of ill-fnino, nnd for being an incorrigible j rogue.
